Weekend Travel Advisory
Hello from ADOT. No full freeway or highway closures are scheduled by ADOT for construction or maintenance improvements over the Labor Day weekend (Friday afternoon through late Monday night). Drivers should still "expect the unexpected," allow extra travel time and prepare for possible delays due to heavier traffic, disabled vehicles, crashes or events such as wildfires. Slow down in existing work zones. The I-17 "flex lanes" between Black Canyon City and Sunset Point will be open this weekend.
  • Pack an emergency prep kit, including extra drinking water, a flashlight, blankets and/or towels, fully charged cellphone (and charger) and other items that can help keep you comfortable and safe should you encounter an unscheduled highway closure.
  • Get adequate rest before driving. Check your vehicle's tire pressure, oil level and be sure everyone in your vehicle is buckled. There's no need for excessive speeding, tailgating or other unsafe driving behaviors, including distractions. Eyes up, phones down.
