Hello from ADOT. It's another busy weekend for freeway improvement projects in the Phoenix area. If you have travel plans to the north, we especially want to warn you about a weekend closure of northbound I-17 starting at Happy Valley Road. Did we mention we're down to the last two weekend closures for this particular pavement improvement project? So click on the Weekend Travel Advisory Map, check on the closures and restrictions and see if you can adjust travel schedules or use alternate routes. Among the closures:
- Northbound I-17 closed between Happy Valley Road and Loop 303 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 24). Avoid using neighborhood streets east of I-17 that are not designed for freeway traffic. Instead, stay with the primary detour along westbound Happy Valley Road, northbound Lake Pleasant Parkway and eastbound Loop 303.
- Westbound I-10 closed between the I-17 "Split" interchange near Sky Harbor Airport and the I-17 "Stack" interchange near McDowell Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 24). Westbound I-10 traffic approaching the closure will detour on northbound I-17.
- Westbound I-10 also narrowed to two lanes between 48th and 24th streets from 7 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Monday (Feb. 24) for work on the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project. Allow plenty of extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
