PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. – The Central Arizona College Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) chapter invites CAC students, faculty and staff as well as all Pinal County community citizens to attend the upcoming ‘9/11 Never Forget Project Ceremony at the Signal Peak Campus (8470 N Overfield Road, Coolidge, AZ).
To commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon and United Flight 93, a display of 2,977 American flags will be available for viewing all day on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at both the Maricopa Campus and Signal Peak Campus green. Each flag represents the individuals who died in the terrorist attacks.
That same evening, a formal ceremony will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Signal Peak Campus (Building I patio). The patriotic ceremony will feature music, guest speakers, presentations and a moment of silence. Special recognition will also be given to first responders and armed service personnel. A complete listing of the event details will be announced on the CAC Clubs & Organizations webpage (https://centralaz.edu/clubs).
YAF is a national organization. The CAC Chapter was formed and started by CAC student Khahn Huynh in Fall 2023. YAF’s mission is to bring students together to advance conservatism on CAC campuses, to encourage educational activism and develop conservative leadership through training and special events. Benefits of joining the YAF Chapter membership include community involvement, leadership training, learning service hours, character development, networking events and educational enrichment. Participants may obtain community or learning service hours that may be applied to various scholarships or organizational requirements.
In addition to the 9/11 event, the college chapter will host monthly projects during the 2024-2025 academic year, including a Constitutional Day Celebration, No More Che Day, Love of Life, Free Speech on Campus and Why Socialism Does Not Work events.
YAF membership is open to all students and meetings are scheduled for the first and third Thursdays of each month from 5-6 p.m. at the Signal Peak Campus (Rm 113A). Meetings are conducted in person at the Signal Peak Campus and live streamed by enrolling first on Blackboard Organizations, YAF course shell ahead of the meetings and joining online through the ‘Collaboration’ link.
