CAC Fundraising for ''The Braille Calculator Project''

Fundraising letter for My First Talking Calculator

As parents, engineers, and advocates for STEM education, we believe every child should have access to technologies that will help them learn science and mathematics. That's why my husband, John Kerns, and I are working with a team of engineering students at Central Arizona College to develop the first single digit Braille calculator for children in kindergarten, first and second grades. My First Talking Calculator is unique to the needs of young students with visual impairments.

The first few prototypes are being made, but further funding is needed to produce the first 50 calculators. Donations will help support production of the calculators and provide students with visual impairments an introduction to assistive technology in mathematics.

Your tax-deductible contribution can be made by going to https://centralaz.edu/community/foundation/giving/donation/, choosing a gift amount, and then directing your support to "Braille Calculator Project" from the drop-down menu.

We would be grateful for any contribution that you or your organization could provide. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Craig Kurtz (craig.kurtz@centralaz.edu), the Executive Director of Institutional Development at Central Arizona College, with any questions.

Sincerely yours,
Armineh Noravian & John Kerns
