Full-Time, FLSA Non-exempt position            Salary: $43,807 - $65,711 annually

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D., and at least one (1) year experience in the maintenance and repair of wastewater facilities and systems, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade 1 Certification in Wastewater Treatment and/or Grade 1 Wastewater Collections System Certification are required within one year of employment.
  • Must possess a valid commercial Arizona Driver’s License (CDL), class B with tanker endorsement, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
 
Must successfully complete a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
Proficiency in operation of equipment such as Camel® Truck, Vacuum Truck, or backhoe. Operates and maintains wastewater treatment system; assists with ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the City wastewater system. Maintains compliance with all wastewater collection and treatment health, safety and environmental regulations. Repairs and cleans wastewater system. Inspects lift stations. Repairs broken sewer pipes and manholes. Responds to emergency call outs and provides assistance to City residents and contractors regarding sewer backups or other after-hours emergencies. Conducts inspections of pipes and manholes. Locates and marks sewer lines for utility and construction companies. Maintains all departmental equipment and tools in proper working order. Takes daily readings and measurements of wastewater as required. Maintains accurate departmental records. Supervises cleaning and maintenance duties performed by Department of Corrections inmate work crews when such work crews are available.
