Full-Time, FLSA Non-exempt position            Salary: $35,078 - $52,616 annually

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, AND one (1) year of experience driving trucks
  • and operating equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid State of Arizona Class D Commercial driver’s license; specific technical training,
  • license endorsements, certifications and CDL are desirable.
 
Must successfully complete a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs manual labor assignments in varying weather conditions; operates trucks and equipment to perform a variety of job functions in the Public Works Department. Operates a variety of trucks and equipment to repair and maintain roads, roadways, properties and structures, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Hauls materials, and transports vehicles and equipment to job sites. Repairs road surface failures, patches asphalt, and chip seals cracks in pavement. Performs manual labor assignments as needed, including moving road materials, debris removal, and foliage maintenance. Operates hand and power tools; operates spray equipment for the application of weed control chemicals; mows roadway right-of-way, and trims and removes shrubs and trees. Performs traffic control activities as needed; follows safety regulations on all work zone and flagging sites, including placing barricades and cones. Cleans and performs routine maintenance work on trucks and heavy equipment; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair. Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports safety hazards, traffic problems, equipment problems and emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
